The unit at the river measures the level
every 15 minutes and stores the data locally. To get the latest
reading, ring the phone
and count the number of beeps. Once a day just after
09:00 (summer time), the unit sends an sms message containing all of
the data for the
previous 24 hours. It takes about another 15min for the data to be
converted to an email, delivered to the server
and processed to
generate the graphs. The online graphs are therefore updated only once
a day at about 09:20. This keeps the
phone bill down to just over E40 a year.
Although
the graph is only updated once a day, up to date information can be
obtained by ringing the system. The will give a reading obtained
within the last 15 minutes. To
check the lastest level, ring +353-86-3029881 and count the
number of beeps. eg, 7 beeps means that the level
is between 70cm
and 80cm. If you hear a pitter-patter in the backgroung, that is the
sound of rain bouncing off the box housing the system!
Email alerts
There is also an email alert
facility. To subscribe send an email to flesk-request@freelists.org
with the word subscribe in the subject line.
If the level is above 1m,
a one line email is sent out. This will happen once a day at about
9.00am and only if the Flesk is
running above 1m.
Pint size
